a perfect day

Last weekend we took our circus to the Scripps Aquarium in La Jolla. It was a perfect weather day and it was November! It was the first time since I moved here that I really realized how lucky we are to live in such a warm climate. We arrived just in time for the diving show in the kelp tank. We spent almost 3 hours looking at all the fish and checking out all of the animals in the touch tank. When we asked Jax what his favorite part was he said that he loved the fish that made his home by scooping up sand in his mouth and spitting it out.

After the aquarium, we went to dinner and sat outside at a restaurant in La Jolla. Jax ate pizza and gave the crust to the babies. Cory and I ate mussels and pasta. All three kids were so good the entire time. It was a perfect day.

October was great

October has been great. There have been a lot of changes around here but it wouldn't be the Magnus family without trying to mix it up every other week. This month has been filled with lots of fun, in a 'crazy, three ring circus' kind of way.

We found a harvest festival. It was definitely a SoCal desert style and it felt a little strange to be wearing shorts and t-shirts while picking pumpkins, but it was perfect for our little tribe.
Jax started soccer. He loves it and is getting exposed to all the basics. He is actually showing promise in some areas (less in others) but is really having a good time.
We went to the Miramar air show. This was a big highlight of the month and I'm pretty sure my biggest boy had the best time of all... and I don't mean Jax. The babes were troopers and were happy for the entire afternoon watching the really loud planes and checking out all the jets on the run way. This is definitely a new Magnus tradition.
Kara and Bryan visited. We had to show off a little bit and let these Seattle-ites see how we do it in San Diego in October. So we most of our time hanging out and exploring the beaches. Our now mobile babies discovered the sand and decided to see what it tasted like. I am learning to just go with the flow on this one but does make a mother squirm a bit when her babies a putting there faces down in the sand and come up with mouth full. Jax was in heaven hanging with two of his favorite people on the planet for the weekend.
Halloween was fantastic. Jax was Spiderman and he chose costumes for his brothers. Not a surprise that Tucker was Batman and Ryder was Robin. The babes ended up forgoing the trick-or-treating but Jax went for 2 hours and came home with some major loot. We had some trouble with the 'one piece per house unless they offer more' rule but other than that, he was a super star... or in this case, a super hero:-) Cory really got into decorating this year and added few decorations to the mix. I wasn't able to capture all of it but he also had a fog machine, black lights and scary sounds blasting from the house.
