We have
officially been San Diegoans (Diegans?) for almost two months now. We have
spent quite a bit of time at the beach but have yet to go Sea World. We hope to
venture out and check out more than just the beaches but for now we are in love
with the best thing this place has to offer – the sun!
Jax is in
love with his school and he has made all kinds of friends. His favorite thing
about his school is the playground. His least favorite thing is the mandatory 2
hour nap every day something he hasn’t done since he was 2 ½. Luckily we can
fill some of this time with extracurricular activities like gymnastics, Spanish,
PE and Music class. He is very musical and wants to start learning how
to play the guitar. He is a little sponge and asks all kinds of crazy
questions. You better answer correctly because he remembers what you said and
will repeat it later. He is growing up so fast and is becoming more and more self-sufficient
but thankfully still likes to get in his snuggle time. Jax continues to be the
pickiest of eaters and his hatred of meat has convinced me he wants to be a
vegetarian. He loves super heroes (spidey is his fave), pirates (hiding and
looking for treasure is a common game in our house) and firemen (yes, his
passion for fighting fires has not died).
Ryder and
Tucker are both growing like weeds, although Tucker I think will always have
his twin beat in the weight department. Both babies are eating solids like mad
but still only have two bottom teeth. Their favorite foods are fruit – mangoes,
peaches, pears and bananas but also love their orange veggies - sweet potatoes,
squash and carrots. Unfortunately the green veggies are not on the fave list
but we are working on those. Ryder has even started picking up the food and
putting it in his mouth. Tucker… not so much. He will just put his face down on
the tray to eat the finger food and refuses to try and pick it up. Every day
they become more and more mobile. Ryder rolls when he wants to get somewhere
and Tucker will actually make an attempt at army crawling and uses his big toe
to propel (just like jax). Their sleeping
has improved and they will mostly sleep through the night but are VERY early
risers. It is not uncommon for the lights to be on at our house at 5am. Not
liking that one so much. No real words yet although we are starting to hear a lot of "mmmmmaaaa....... mmmmmmm......mmmmmaaaa". I think it is official and that 'mama' should be declared as their first word but a certain somebody isn't willing to accept that:-)Tucker has started army crawling (just like his older brother) this week and Ryder is still thinking about it. We are in so much trouble when we have two mobile babies.
Ryder had his
CCAM surgery (they removed a small fluid filled cyst detected at the 20 week
ultrasound) a few weeks ago and braved it like a little soldier. He recovered quickly
and is back to playing and wrestling with his brother. His doctor gave him a
clean bill of health and said that there should be nothing holding him back from running marathons and
climbing Mt Everest someday. The added bonus is that he can make up a story and tell all his future potential girlfriends that his scar was from the time he had to fight off a shark or an altercation with a bear.
The last bit of news is that after 10 months of bed resting and baby caring I am back to the bench. I am dusting off the pipets and getting back in the game. The babies are in an awesome day care and are doted on by three little ladies all day long. They are entertained with puppet shows and art projects and are happy little men when we come to pick them up. Needless to say, our lives have become even more chaotic if you can believe it but a working mama is a happy mama.
